Good Shepherd Sunday marks two years of regular services at Shepherd of the City Lutheran Church in Northeast Philadelphia, and we will celebrate with a day of prayer on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Shepherd of the City Lutheran Church (7200 Castor Ave, Philadelphia). Parking is available on side streets and across Castor Avenue in the Walgreens parking lot.

Featured Speaker

Rev Kurt Reinhardt serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Lutheran Church-Canada (LCC) with more than 15 years experience in the ministry. He has also served on the Commission on Worship and Music for the LCC. He published a book of theological poetry and prayers entitled "My Light and My Salvation" and has authored multiple articles and essays.

Tentative schedule for the day:

10:00 Registration and WELCOME

10:15-11:00 MORNING PRAYER

11:00-noon SESSION ONE

Our featured speaker, Rev Reinhardt, will present a view of prayer as a conversation between our Father in heaven and His dear children to answer the question, "Why Pray?" He will talk about how we listen to God first in order to relearn how to speak to Him in prayer.

noon-1:00 LUNCH (provided)

1:00-2:15 SESSION TWO

In this session, Rev Reinhardt will present how we speak together as a Church in prayer.

2:15-3:00 VESPERS (with an emphasis on prayers for the city of Philadelphia and the work of Philadelphia Lutheran Ministries)
